Through this series of engaging presentations and classes led by Canyon Ranch experts, you’ll develop the knowledge, confidence and motivation necessary to make a personal connection to your desire to be healthy.
Orientation & Starting Point
Guests gather with an experienced staff member to talk about how to get the most from the Life Enhancement Program and for a tour of the Life Enhancement Center. Enjoy an engaging meet-and-greet session, where you’ll connect with other guests and learn what brings them to Canyon Ranch. Many LEC guests remain in touch for years, and this session is where it all starts.
The Journey Begins
This session will help you to step back and take a deeper look at your vision of health and healing. One of Canyon Ranch’s spiritual guides will give a brief introduction to holistic health in a way that will inspire you to create a life of meaning.
Integrative Medicine
A perfect introduction to the practice of medicine at Canyon Ranch, as well as an explanation of what “integrative” means. A physician explains how to use the vast resources and healing modalities available to you here.
Body Wisdom
Learn movements that will help your body “self-correct” patterns of tension, pain and postural misalignment. You’ll use breath, sound and gently controlled movements to increase comfort and ease in body and mind.
Think Before You Eat
Your food choices send many messages to your body and environment. In this session, you’ll explore whether your eating messages are consistent with your health, nutrition and performance goals. Learn about the Canyon Ranch nutrition philosophy, and which foods to choose for a healthy-eating plan.
Exercise for Life
You know that exercise is good for you. However, you may be surprised by the degree to which moderate exercise can positively impact your entire life. In this workshop, we’ll explore the multitude of preventable diseases and discuss what counts as exercise, as well as how much is enough. Learn how to take your current exercise regimen to the next level, or to bring exercise into your life.
Roadmap for Change
You already know what to do to live a healthier, more balanced life. What’s missing is the roadmap to make change manageable. Learn about strategies that really work. You’ll consider one or more specifically relevant health behaviors as you work with these principles.
Meditation for Change
Think you can’t meditate? You can! In this fun, interactive session, you’ll learn about the well-documented health benefits of meditation and experience guided meditation firsthand. This ancient, simple practice has invaluable lessons for each of us.
Healthy Weight Overview
In this introductory session of the Healthy Weight series, we’ll discuss principles of metabolism and weight management. You’ll learn about the habits of people who have been successful at losing significant weight and maintaining that loss.
Exercise for Weight Loss
This 45-minute exercise session teaches you to optimize your exercise metabolic rate by walking or biking. Learn the art of pacing for optimal caloric expenditure using intervals to improve your pace and ability to ascend hills, all without exceeding moderate intensity. You’ll be delighted to discover that hills are not the problem – inappropriate speed is. You’ll leave with a basic 10- to 30- minute routine, including illustrated handouts.
Your Self Behaving
Learn four simple and practical secrets to improving your nutrition or exercise behaviors. No longer will you need to rely solely on willpower – eating behaviors in particular do not respond to this strategy.
Practical Portions
Many weight-loss programs and diet books suggest unrealistic reductions in portions. Weight comes off but does not stay off as old habits soon return. In this session, discover practical approaches to portions. Making realistic, sustainable changes is encouraged, and real foods are used as examples.
Mind Body Connection
In this fun, interactive session, you’ll discover how your relationship with your body can be enhanced by creating a conscious mind-body connection.
Turning Point
The Life Enhancement Program is both an immersion experience and one that carefully, realistically helps you plan for a healthier future. During this informal session, you'll reflect on the week so far and turn the corner into Take-Home Planning. This is the perfect time to leave the old you behind!
Where’s the Joy?
How high on your list of things to do today is "something fun"? Through interactive, playful activities, you’ll reconnect with the wisdom that children have instinctively - that joy is paramount to a fulfilling life. Prepare to feel liberated!
Take-Home Planning
This is, perhaps, the most important time you will invest during your stay at Canyon Ranch. At week’s end, you’ll be guided through developing your action plan for success. "Experience it for a week, live it for a lifetime" is more than our slogan ... it’s our mission.
Fitness Classes
The following workout classes are appropriate for all levels. You’ll enjoy the camaraderie of other LEC guests as you push yourself to new levels of fitness.
Stride & Strength - Cardiovascular exercise followed by strength and muscle endurance work.
Cardio Circuit - Aerobic circuit workout using cardio machines and strength equipment.
Stretch & Relax - Promotes flexibility, breathing and relaxation.
Tuber-cise - A variety of endurance and flexibility-based exercises using xertubes.
