Some say Ethan was born to work outside. From a very early age, he gravitated toward nature and spent as much time outdoors as possible doing what he now teaches: biking, hiking, archery, and canoeing. On his way to becoming an Eagle Scout, Ethan learned much about wildlife, first aid, rescue, hiking, and camping. He has vast knowledge on local flora and fauna, as he grew up near Lenox and spent his summers between college semesters as a camp counselor at a nature-themed camp with the Pleasant Valley Audubon Center. There, Ethan also led canoe trips for people of all ages.
As an outdoor sports guide, Ethan utilizes his extensive experience in nature to lead groups or provide private instruction. His knowledge about local flora and fauna makes his hikes especially fun for those who want to learn more about the region as they explore the Berkshires, or take jaunts closer to property. He tailors private lessons for all levels, and especially loves to spark enthusiasm within beginners. For instance, one of his favorite private lesson experiences was when teaching an archery lesson to a women who had never shot a bow, but wanted to learn how as her son wrote he loved archery while in summer camp. “By the end of the lesson, she was consistently hitting the center of the target. She even had me take a picture of her with the target after her last round to show her son!” Clearly, having fun and enjoying the great outdoors is what it’s all about for Ethan.
In his down time, Ethan can be found doing, what he teaches — whether he’s hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking, or picking up a bow for target practice. He’s thrilled that his job encompasses what he loves most in life: being in nature and helping others. An avid trail runner who ran cross country in college, Ethan is often spotted on a run, and is happy to chat with anyone about the sport. Words of wisdom? There’s no better place to clear your mind than the middle of the woods.” For speaking engagements, please contact us .
