Having a storyteller as a nature guide has proven to be a stellar combination at Canyon Ranch Lenox. After working in professional theatre for more than 20 years, including being a full-time resident with Berkshire Theatre Group, Gray found his way to our Fitness & Movement team at Canyon Ranch in 2015. Growing up in Knoxville, Tennessee, less than an hour from the Smokey Mountain National Park, Gray spent his upbringing wandering in the woods and exploring mountains. On his many adventures, he enjoyed “making up stories.” His work as an outdoor sports guide at Canyon Ranch is truly a culmination of his journey. Gray says that he is now able to do all of his favorite things every day for work which radiates out for all of our resort guests to experience.
Gray never stops exploring new terrain and when not at the Ranch, he loves to plan trips around the country where he can hike new trails and climb mountains. Alongside his mother and brother, Gray has expanded his quest to tackle high mountains. They are attempting to visit the highest elevation in all 50 states and they “have been collecting state high points.” So far, they have tackled challenging climbs up mountains that exceed 14,000 feet in 36 states so far. Not all of his personal adventures involve scaling heights, as he also enjoys lowkey quality family time, and ground level trips like to a park bench in a Delaware suburban neighborhood. Gray’s words to live by? “When I do good, I feel good.”
