A wanderer and explorer from birth, our Senior Outdoor Sports Guide, Rowan Darko, has always enjoyed nature and the outdoors. For the last eight years he has shared his passion as a naturalist to help people of all ages explore nature and learn about wildlife and plant communities so they can better understand and respect our natural world.
Rowan has worked with the Mendocino Woodlands Camp Association and the Skidaway Island State Park, helping support group and family recreation as well as environmental education. He has loved leading guided hikes, school groups, community outreach, creating new curriculums and programs, and leading education talks on a variety of nature topics. Rowan has also spent time as a marine science educator at the Tybee Island Marine Science Center focusing on the flora and fauna of coastal Georgia, assisting in the care of reptiles, fish, and marine invertebrates, and facilitating wildlife rescues.
As you can imagine, Rowan is also an avid bird watcher and backpacking enthusiast.
