Chef Shawn is passionate about sharing his love for cooking with our guests at Canyon Ranch Tucson, and teaching them how to create healthy, easy, and delectable recipes. He leads the daily Lunch-and-Learn cooking demonstrations and also teaches Hands-On Cooking classes.

For nearly three decades, Chef Shawn has been a vital part of the Canyon Ranch family in Arizona. Guests enjoy his Lunch-and-Learn demonstrations and Hands-On Cooking classes, where he is known for his sharp wit, infectious laughter, and enthusiasm for eating well.
He specializes in providing “easy and practical” healthful dishes that are delicious and fun to prepare. He is adept at teaching resort guests at all skill levels about Nutrition & Food, and is thrilled when anyone gets back in touch to share their progress at home.
Chef Shawn has always been drawn to the culinary industry. As a teen, before owning a car, he would walk daily to a local Tucson restaurant for his first job as a dishwasher. There, he quickly advanced to short-order cook and worked at a few other restaurants in Tucson. He found his way to Canyon Ranch in 1995, where he “worked in all parts of the kitchen.” After 18 months of training, he was asked to work in the Demo Kitchen, where he excels in sharing his passion for making healthy living and cooking fun and enjoyable for all.
When not working, Chef Shawn can often be found in his kitchen at home, of course, thinking up creative recipes. He loves spending time with his family and two children and prides himself on telling the “best bad jokes.”
His words to live by? “Find something to laugh about as much as possible!”
