Start your year off right with our special Fitness Week, packed with expert-led classes for you to explore all week long. Join as many sessions as you like – ranging from Yoga Sculpt to Pilates, Freeform Fusion, and so much more.
Over this week, we've added more of your favorite fitness classes plus brand-new offerings – ranging from classes focused on building strength to those dedicated to enhancing flexibility, improving cardiovascular health, developing core stability, and more. Work towards achieving a well-rounded, healthy body and receive mindfulness, mindset, and motivation tips from our trainers and performance scientists along the way.

Samuel Barthel, MS, CSCS, Senior Performance Scientist is committed to helping our guests create individualized and holistic plans that work, so they will meet their wellness and fitness goals. He empowers guests by educating them on their current fitness status, through research-backed exercise assessments, and then coaches them on how to accomplish their goals.
Sam comes to the Canyon Ranch Fitness & Movement team after working two years with the Philadelphia 76ers as a Strength and Conditioning Coach and Sport Scientist. Previously, he was a graduate assistant at Michigan State University with the Men's and Women's basketball teams — assisting in all aspects of strength and conditioning and sport science. While at MSU, he also taught 100-200 level wellness and anatomy classes. An athlete and a scholar, Sam has published research in the areas of motorsport and equine physiology.
Mike Siemens, MS, RCEP, Director of Performance Science works one-on-one with our guests, creating customized exercise programs for a wide variety of fitness levels and movement goals. He also hires, trains, and mentors our team of Exercise Physiologists, and develops programming for the department.
After nearly three decades with our Fitness & Movement team at Canyon Ranch, Mike continues to be energized by teaching people how exercise can improve the quality of their lives. He specializes in strength and aerobic conditioning, metabolic testing data, and custom exercise program design.
Darlene Trent, Fitness Instructor boasts a wealth of experience and expertise in the realm of fitness, spanning over 31 years in the industry. Darlene is a seasoned professional committed to helping guests at our Tucson wellness resort achieve their fitness goals.
As a NASM Certified Performance Enhancement and Conditioning Specialist, Darlene loves creating a vibrant, enjoyable workout environment showing guests at all levels that fitness can be fun.
Katia Cardenas, Fitness Instructor works with guests in personal training sessions as well as fitness, yoga, breath, and meditation classes. She brings over 20 years of fitness experience to our Arizona wellness resort, providing welcoming, engaging, and educational experiences for guests.
Boasting two decades of experience, she's spent her life making a positive impact on others through fitness. Katia specializes in mature adult fitness, including expertise in areas such as Parkinson's rehabilitation and overall functional health.
Fernanda Campillo, Fitness Instructor is a dynamic fitness professional with a passion for teaching and inspiring Tucson resort guests to lead active, healthy lifestyles through different modalities.
As a former member of the Sonora State Volleyball Team and a top-five finalist in the Miss Sonora Beauty pageant, Fernanda brings a dedication to everything she does. Guided by her personal motto, "It never gets easy – we gotta just do it," Fernanda approaches each day with determination, enthusiasm, and a commitment to helping guests thrive.
Ronnie Grate, Personal Trainer teaches and develops fitness classes for Canyon Ranch Tucson, as well as works with guests in personal training sessions.
He has more than 40 years of experience in the healthcare and fitness industry, training wellness seekers to lead healthier lifestyles and excel in their respective sports. Ronnie's career has taken him everywhere from a 15-year tenure as an anesthesia technologist in operating rooms to the unique experience of touring with Celine Dion as the personal trainer for her husband and security staff.
Jennifer Spencer, Personal Trainer brings over three decades of expertise in the fitness industry to guests at our wellness resort in Tucson, Arizona. She specializes in senior fitness, Parkinson’s management, aquatic exercise, cycling, stretch, and balance training.
With a career spanning back to 1991, Jennifer has cultivated her skills through various roles, including managing health clubs and contributing to Shape magazine. She has even trained Olympic swimmer Amanda Beard in preparation for a photo shoot.
Meredith Warfel, Personal Trainer has a passion for helping others achieve their health and wellness goals. With a diverse background in group fitness and personal training, Meredith helps design Tucson's fitness programs and works with guests in sessions.
Meredith's fitness journey began in 2010 when she earned her first certification in Turbo Kickboxing. Since then, she’s lent her expertise to renowned fitness centers, including 24 Hour Fitness, Penn State’s Hershey Fitness Center, LA Fitness, TITLE Boxing, and Miraval Arizona Resort & Spa.
